Which, of course, is wrong. But just because the Author's Guild is doing, doesn't make it right.

I also question whether this really falls under the scope of 'fair use'. This isn't a case of using the copyrighted works for educational purposes or reviews, or even making a backup of a personal copy. Won't Google be making money from this (through advertising)? If so, shouldn't some of that monney be shared with the copyright holders?
