In my opinion, it's a lousy long term strategy
unless of course you are big enough and always have sources of revenue. Legal issues of this type and bad PR accumulate over time. If issues like this are a part of business strategy, then the cost of the legal issues and bad PR will go up relative to the benefits until people question your motivations every time you make a public statement. In my opinion, this type of business strategy just taints your name in the long run.
