So, the authors of Debian and FreeBSD aren't eating?
Golly, it must be a LONG time since they've had their last meal! How DO they go on?

And, no, the Right to Life movement is DEFINITELY so far right that a lot of them probably have outlawed left-handed guitars in their non-traditional services.

I think Wikis are more in line with the concept of the Great Conversation as conceived by the Britannica Great Books: that all Western human knowledge is a conversation down through the ages between the great writers and thinkers. That no single author is privy to the Truth, but that we build on our knowledge of the Truth through proposing answers to the great questions and having them either supported or contradicted as we gain more knowledge and other authors follow. (Plus, when a voice is added to the Conversation, it becomes a living thing which can't be simply "edited out" of history; a big advantage over a paper library such as the one at Alexandria --- much of its knowledge lost when the religious zealots burned it.)

So, for the Catholic leaders and others of the authoritarian "we POSSESS the TRUTH" crowd, I can bet this presents some big problems. But for those of us who are REALLY searching for the elusive Truth, it guarantees no one will be silenced simply because their ideas don't jive with the status quo of current opinion.
