For every idiot out there who goes off on a tangent, there are usually two or three to post a link correcting the information. ZDnet Forums are a great example of that.

Religious fanatics can amass as much as their heart desires, but the evidence that supports scientific claims still exists. The only problem to this is when the Scientific Method is underminded as is why the trials in Kansas and Pennsilvania are so important.

In some aspects, you are correct. Just over 500 years ago, we thought the world was the center of the universe. Just over 500 years ago, we thought the world was flat. 100 years ago, we thought that the invention of Dynamite would end all wars.
200 years ago, we didn't even think to sterilize medical tools after an operation.

Funny how far we have come, yet how far we have to go. I still have to firmly believe that wikis are the way to spread information.
