Has same problems as wikipedia
Umm, no, if I were a professor, I would not consider these books as a good replacement for real textbooks, just as I would not consider the Wikipedia a replacement for real research.

There's simply no way to verify the information is accurate and unbiased. I've had this issue with the Wikipedia; anybody can edit it, and especially with articles that may be sensitive politically, there's no guaruntees that the authors - even if they are trying hard to avoid it - are going to be unbiased and understand the other side as equally as they understand their own side. Despite attempts to "level the playing field" so to speak, I still find the Wikipedia biased in many areas, and vastly misrepresents the other side of many issues.

There's also the problem of reviewing and verifying the content for accuracy - especially in areas that are often subject to peer review, such as the sciences.

There's also the subject of History also - as if rewriting our history isn't a bad enough problem already, making history free to be edited by anybody would only make it worse!
