You are using VERY fuzzy math, dude. While the Gates have
donated a sizable amount to the foundation, it has also received
other donations and interest. The MAIN point you failed to
acount for is the total now is from over 7 years of donations.
You are comparing the TOTAL against his worth (money anyway)
today. They didn't give all that this year.

If they had given half the value of Bill's stock every year for over
7 years then Bill Gates wouldn't be anywhere close to the top
100. You have to remember that most of that value is on PAPER
only, not cash in hand. If it is converted to cash then he loses a
lot of value the next year.

Still, it is nice to see that he has become something of a
philanthropist. So maybe all those Christmas-time programs
about Ebenezer Scrooge have had a good effect. I am happy that
Bill and Melinda have decided to fund medical programs as well
as library efforts.
