He's right
when it comes to things like a PC. If a minor has a PC, and uses it to commit crimes, the parents are responsible (in the USA, anyway, not sure how it is up north). The parents can take the computer away from the child, no matter how it was purchased. I get what you're saying, and kids are certainly protected a lot more than they used to be, but I can't fathom a kid suing their parents because 'mommy won't give me my computer back.'
