That legislation was because of the abuses of Hoover
If the stupid drag queen had run the FBI agency with a little responsibility instead of getting even with political opponents, that legislation probably wouldn't have come about. Their is nothing wrong with gathering evidence on US citizens with court oversite with reasonable cause.

Our military is forbidden to spy on US citizens. Posse Comitatus laws kick in. They and the CIA cannot do that job. Those laws were in effect for a long time.

By the way, weren't those neocons former hippies from the 60s that dodged the draft? Maybe that is why the gov't isn't run to responsibly. They were not responsible back then either. They also are not too smart either. The only thing they can catch is a cold.
