Is it really THAT hard to just ignore them?
I'm not a huge ad fan either, but I can read a well designed page without feeling bombarded by them because they are easy to ignore. Now I do block popups, and I'll block ads on poorly designed sites that let ads get in the way of the content (like those flash ads that expand down onto the content portion of the page). But otherwise I pay it no mind. Sure, the brand name may stick in my head subliminally, but so what? No harm done there. And actually, ads sometimes will inform me about new products that I might be interested in. That's not a bad thing. Otherwise I might need something and not know there is a product for it.

This reply page has two ads on it, but the only reason I took note of it is because I sought them out for the purpose of this reply. Otherwise I would have never noticed them.

It really is popups and ads that get in your way that give all the other ads a bad name. That and the fact that internet ads are not nearly as interesting as the TV ads on the Super Bowl.
