Since when is wanting to make a living
a sinister motive? And how does the desire for money diminish an artist's talents? No one can pinpoint what makes a great artist (or what a greatist is, for that matter). Dostoevsky may have loved sharig his ideas with the world, but did he love it any less than Stephen King does? Until food is free, people will need money.
