Will discourage, has discouraged, and is discouraging
Absolutely true. KFL said as much during his direct examination yesterday, to a question posed by his own attorney, John Keker.

Besides, think about it: what does Google stand to gain by hiring KFL? Obviously his draw with newly-minted PhDs in Beijing is worth at least as much right now, while Google Labs Asia is still in the womb, as what he knows about search technology. It's worth MORE than what he knows about MS's "anti-Google" strategy, if recent technologies to come out of MS in the search arena (including even the Start project, which wasn't KFL's) are any indication.
