What a concept...
I don't often agree with a lot you have to say, but you've hit this one right on the head.

I'm a software engineer (degree in Electrical Engineering), but I'm quick to point out that computers are - and should only ever be - a tool.

I personally don't think kids ought to be unduly distracted from the basics - Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. Learn to find a book in a library. Learn to write without a spelling and grammar checker. Learn to do math without a calculator.

Exercise the brain, not the fingers. There'll be time to play with the cool tools once the basics are mastered.
