sidebars
i like the concept of sidebars, but google's version is way too busy for my taste. i much prefer Desktop Sidebar from here

it is fast, not resource intensive, and supports plugins and skins. plus you don't have the google index service hogging system resources. And unlike GDSidebar, DSB is not crippled by loss of network connectivity. plus DSB is more configurable and has a built in RSS aggregator.

At first when i saw the new Google Desktop Sidebar option i was thrilled, but that soon gave way to impatience and regret.

Oh and Desktop Sidebar is free. So go get it and support the author.
