Where I really disagree.

Is with the attitude. I work from home because it saves me money and is incredibly convenient, not because I want to feel morally superior to my neighbors. Conversely, they don't drive to work because they want to harm the environment (ok, maybe the guy on the corner, but not the rest!).

I'm guessing you are really a nice guy, and I actually owe you some thanks for the information you have posted on these boards which helped me decide to begin using Linux on my home PCs (writing using Mandriva 10.2, downloading Suse 9.3 as I type). But your post above is filled with statements about how everyone else is lazy, stupid, etc. I'd be on your side if you were looking for ways to actually solve the problem without a bias towards inconveniencing the average person. But as Jack Booted EULA says in a moment of candor above, and Paco20 below, many really just like the idea of forcing others to change their lifestyles. This is why an idea as workable and readily implementable as a national initiative for working from home won't get any traction; it fails to sufficiently punish ?those other people?.

This vindictiveness really puzzles me, and turns most people off.

On your statment that oil companies are conspiring to keep viable alternative energy sources from being used, how do you square that with China's growing need for oil? Is China's communist government really part of the global capitalist conspiracy against alternative sources of energy?
