Ironically, for once you're actually right Cox
Maybe not with the BS around the .CMH file etc but this article unknowingly describes what .NET is all about. .NET was created as a way to make the Web more programmable. Microsoft certainly wasn't the only company to envion that but you have to give them some credit for getting it early and delivering pretty good platforms and tools for doing this kind of thing. Learn a little about the .NET framework and Micrsoft ans IBM's efforts around the WS-* standards and you'll see how this approach to building applications is a lot more more powerful than simply showing where gas prices are lowest. Fortune 500 companies are using this approach to connect their internal procurement systems with their suppliers. My company's intranet is integrated with our 401K supplier via Web services. This is basically EDI for the modern times.
