- Ignorance, mother of Arrogance
-
The most someone is uninstructed, inintelligent, lazy, casual, airy, reckless, careless, the most he will think others are still worse than he is, the most he will completely miss what treasures of knowledge, modesty, friendliness, helpfulness, richness in general he could learn talking with them, hence the most he will get scorning and arrogant.
I once was wondering in a store why all the frigos left one were (at that time) badly designed for the inside usability, sturdiness, and had 2 motors instead of 1, which (at that time) brought nothing but more price and less efficiency in defrosting; while wondering I was standing in front of the only good one (which at that time happened to be one of the BRANDT models).
A salesman, who of course never had noticed that this particular frigo was better and why, came and from His Greatness, deigned to address me (damn, he must have been the most helpful and modest salesman in the country that year!), and asked: ? everyone is coming right at this model and buying it, with no reflection or question at all. I would like who told them to buy it ?.
Of course it couldn't occur to a salesman that customers could have a brain, use it, inform themselves and watch frigos many times before coming and buying - eventually after forcing themselves to play stupid to get the arrogant salesmen serve them. At least that particular salesman had noticed that that particular frigo alone was selling crazy; his fellows never bothered noticing such "details".
I am sure that salesman (and still more the other ones who didn't even ask customers why they all bought that same model), short of understanding other people, would call them ? peeecee abusers ? and pretend (without having ever seen a single one do so) they ? buy their personal confuser like they would a car. They kick the tires and then buy it ? - as well-named ? Squawkbox ? puts it.
