Probably couldn't have picked a better steward to get the Office through this problem. John was the Technology Center Director responsible for biotechnology and for introducing the technology that got the PTO through the tremendous backlog resulting from the biotech patents. A good pick to lead the new automation program. (good man - he's a physics major and member of the Best fraternity). happy

Not sure how he or anyone can get the PTO through the software patent crisis. So many lawyers and and their lobbyists getting fat off those fees. EPO seems so far to be successful in fending off the insanity, but the U.S. caved, and a big community of self-interest is hard to overcome.
