Still low resolution
Your PDA is still a much lower resolution interface than ink on
paper. Many (actually most) find it straining to read for long
periods of time on such a low res device. There are also other
issues, like needing batteries, worrying about dropping it at the
beach or in the pool, and of course, all the insane DRM that
most publishers include, not to mention the lack of a standard
format.

But there is great potential for the future, for all of the reasons
you listed in your post. I'm just waiting for the resolution to
improve, and for some sort of reasonable standards to be
established. Particularly, I often loan books to friends, and I
want to be able to do this with any e-book I purchase.

---My biggest gripe is that ebooks are often as expensive as
paper.---

This is a problem. Mostly it's because to most publishers, e-
books are an afterthought, with a very tiny market. If there
eventually is a large enough market, you'll see some
competition. Also, there's the greed factor, much like that seen
for online music downloads, which often cost more than
purchasing a physical cd.
