Sigh
As a teacher, a good teacher would never just give the kids free reign on the internet like that. You first teach them how to search correctly using major search engines and search terms. You then select a few sites as examples and work with them...just like parents should be doing at home. Secondly, a responsible school and teacher is going to make sure that there are controls and filters on the school networks. The filters have progressed enough these days that they are pretty effective at blocking the inappropriate stuff.
The last thing is why do we need so much governemnt control on things like this? Parents should be teaching their kids and preparing them to survive in the world without having Big Brother watching over them. For example, once a child can walk, we don't just let them run loose all over town, out in the yard, and on the street. We teach them boundries and how to be safe (i.e. Looking both ways before crossing the street.) Parents are supposed to take the time to teach their children these things. The same goes for internet and other forms of communication that people think should be censored. Try teaching the children how to avoid it and be safe instead of just legislating how people should live their lives.
