My take on patents is that they are somewhat of a double-edged sword...

On the one side there is the fact that a person "should" be paid for his/her works/inventions, however, can you imagine if there was a patent on shoes for instance (besides "patent leather") ... there would be a lot of folks who would not be able to afford shoes and thus would be running arond barefooted!!!
