Microsoft cooking up more features for Hotmail

A Day Late, a Dollar Short

As the articles note, Gmail already has all of the proposed Hotmail features. The integration with Messenger is the only thing lacking in Gmail, but that's pretty small potatoes. (If you're already at your computer, I'd assume you already have MSN running, and if you're not, how useful is seeing one of your MSN buddies online going to be?)

The only feature Hotmail will have, when it's released, is that it won't be in beta. (Well, okay, it will be in beta, in the sense that most MS software is released before it's really been bug-tested thoroughly, but it won't be officially beta.) I'm still awaiting Gmail's final release. It's been in beta for a long, long, long time now. I guess that's good from a quality control standpoint, but it doesn't keep up product momentum.
