4th Dimension Design
You patronize sites with advertising based business models.
They throw whatever they want at you. You can bet it will be in
motion if they have been given the oportunity by the host. Blame
the host.

gifs Will distract you as well. Flash is a model that allows you to
opt out?you should be grateful, it won't last long. These kinds of
client side capabilities are being built into Vista. At that point
you won't have a choice.

Leveraging time in an application or website design is a valuable
tool. To see Flash as animation-centric is a narrow view. Equally
narrow is assigning a technology, which is benign, the blame for
bad taste implementations. I'd suggest you endorse a 3rd party
solution for client-side run times. If Microsoft get's their hooks
in, you'll have no say in the matter.
