increased efficiency
Paperless records probably make sense for a facility that has relatively new medical/diagnostic systems and a network that never breaks down. If this is NOT the case, how does the local user obtain the stored information when the network is down and how do you enter test data (efficiently) from systems that may not even be network capable? There are a number of different protocols currently in use for electronically storing medical data (including the one used by the VA). What will have to be done to enable the various protocols to interact for error free interchange of data between systems (or will I be limited to doctors using the protocol my very first doctor started with)?
