Worth pointing out...
... the browser is not a profit center as an application. If someone running Windows uses FireFox, Microsoft's advantage in pointing to an apparently competitive market is probably greater than its revenue losses. So long as too many don't switch.

The key for them is Windows itself. Developers know that the IE capabilities will be in better than 90% of pc's, so they write for those capabilities primarily. The availablility of these applications is a good reason to buy Windows.
Positively re-inforcing cycle for Microsoft.

The US anti-trust case was right about the applications barrier to entry and the threat of middleware to Windows.

FireFox does nothing to damage those essential Windows advantages.
