Just out of curiosity JC2 what company signs your paycheck?
"This is how the war on democracy will be lost, when greedy, money grubbing capaitalists are placed in positions where they will willingly violate all the freedoms that our forbears fought and died for, in the hope of making pots of cash."
What a bunch of crap. First get down off your soapbox. I need the wood for yard sale signs. I am one of those greedy capitalistic, "OBSCENE PROFIT" making, job providing pigs you hate. FYI my SPF our forefathers fought for our right to do just that. Be free to make all the money we can if we so chose. PUHLEASE give me a list of where your freedoms have been infringed upon. If you ain't got any for yourself tell me of people you know.
"Microsoft apologists, don't even bother refuting my post"
I don't apologize for no one. Now that we have that out of the way.
"after all, if we were in China, and I was the government, and you disagreed with me ... well, you wouldn't be allowed to disagree via Talkback, Microsoft would see to that ... "
Well we are not in China and we enjoy the freedom to disagree and post in this forum and others. So what's your beef?
"American "freedom" and "democracy", who would have thought it could be spread by bombing Iraq and gaging Chinese civilians ..."
You missed the point completely. Doing business in another country is not about spreading "American "freedom" and "democracy". It is about creating profit. Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Intel, AMD, McDonalds, BurgerKing Fruit-Of-The-Loom are all in China and other countries to MAKE MONEY. Golly gee have you looked on the back of your Spiderman underwear to see where they were made? OOOOPS its China. Look out you idiot, China is trying to infiltrate our culture and take away our freedoms by selling you your comic book hero underwear. IT IS CALLED BUSINESS.
""Microsoft Helps China To Censor Bloggers"
http://www.guardian.co.uk/online/weblogs/story/0,14024,1506602,00.html"
You failed to point out in the article you posted this little blurb.
"A Microsoft spokesman said the restrictions were the price the company had to pay to spread the positive benefits of blogs and online messaging.
"Even with the filters, we're helping millions of people communicate, share stories, share photographs and build relationships. For us, that is the key point here," Adam Sohn, a global sales and marketing director at MSN, told the Associated Press news agency.
For the Chinese government, which employs an estimated 30,000 internet police, the restrictions are an extension of a long-standing policy to control the web so that it can be used by businesses but not by political opponents."
You would criminalize Microsoft and Google simply because they follow the rules of another country. I've seen your posts and you were one of those that criticized Microsoft for violating EU monopoly laws. Trying to have it both ways does not work. Words have a habit of coming back to haunt you. You seem to forget other examples of government controls over corporations. France made Yahoo and EBAY censor their auctions, no nazi items to be sold. I did not see you condemning them.
Get real Wot-A-Crock2. These agreements are only as good as the people and paper they are printed on. Your complaint, no RANT, should be against China. But your anti-business bias is so hypocritical and you are pathetic. I return to my first question. What company signs your paycheck that you use to live your lifestyle you enjoy? Don't like it? Then get out there and fight in the free amrket to make your way. That ain't gonna happen cause you ain't got the balls.
