Should the U.N. run the Internet?
Not only no, but F*** no!

What will happen if given to the UN:
1. Costs will increase - bribes cost money.
2. Repressive regimes will find it easier to suppress information, as the UN is largely made up of repressive regimes.
3: The Internet will fragment, which is likely to happen anyway, but that's a different topic.
4: Internet access will be used as a club to force nations to follow UN mandates - You won't sign Kyoto?, No Internet for you!
5: See 1 above. Once isn't enough.
