I hardly see ads at all
I run Mozilla Firefox with the adblock plugin, allowing me to nix advertisments at will. My OS of choice is Linux, keeping me free of spyware and other baddies. I also collect a list of known advertiser domains and set my router to block them.

Ads aren't a problem.

However I do agree that adware/spyware companies need to be shut down and the employees and managers/CEOs jailed.
