Works the other way, too
Quite often I leave a theatre thinking I'll buy the movie when it comes out only to forget by the time it does arrive.

I rarely go to movies in theatre unless the big screen and superior display would make a difference. Otherwise, I'll just pick up the DVD.

Sometimes after seeing the DVD I end up wishing it were back in theatres, though. Too late.
