No matter what subject gets put on these boards,
dissatisfaction seems to triumph over happy
experiences. It's like some mass catharsis. My
dad has been buying on e-bay for some time, and
like going to an auction, it is a skill gained
from experience. I think anyone who buys
electronics (new stuff) on e-bay is nuts, but my
dad has bought a ton of antique type stuff,
really enjoys doing it, and has had mostly
positive experiences. The problem seems to be
businesses that are using e-bay as a way to do
business, rather than some other outlet. It
seems individual sellers are much more reputable,
and really more in the spirit of the experience.
Perhaps they should divide the site into
professional and amateur sellers.
