Fraud is not particular to eBay

I teach a computing use class at a major university. My students, even those who have NEVER been to eBay, get phishing expeditions proportedly from eBay, banks they don't have accounts with, and lots of other "places" they have no contact with. The scamsters are seaking eBay information from people that don't even have eBay (etc) accounts.

Does that tell you something. It is like spreading sand on the beach. Hard to tell what came from where or who it was intended for, but it pays enough that the scamsters keep doing it.

If people would pay attention to the eMail they receive the practice would die. So, don't blame it on eBay.

The problem with eBay is its OWN greed, not the scamsters.
