Of course, IBM can't OWN open source ...
... in the way that Microsoft owns Windows. With MS, they OWN the ONLY grocery store (Windows) and tell YOU what you can buy. Open Source includes a lot of grocery stores, and if you don't like the products in IBM's store, you can leave, go down the block to Red Hat's place, or Novell SuSE's, or Debian's, etc., etc. This is called competition.

The reason I "worry what MS does" is because trying to ignore them is like trying to ignore the bully on the playground: he's has no compunction about blindsiding you. I've got to pay attention to what MS is doing or I'm going to find myself appreciably lighter in the pocketbook, and much more limited in my options. This is called a monopoly. grin
