MS should focus on getting RSS working based on standards.
They could even suggest to the community the changes they want and get feed back while they are implementing the standards, and by the time they were ready, they would probably have agreement, assuming they were being resonable. They really have no reason to talk about extensions untill they have the standards working.

But, Microsoft has more to gain by creating confusion and incompatibilities, and making sure that you can view all content ONLY if you use Windows. So we know what they will do.
