Re: Broadcast flag debate shifts to Capitol Hill
From the article:

"The only problem, though, is that no senator so far has publicly pledged to support the broadcast flag and no amendments have been announced so far. 'I do not know of any members who are going to offer the broadcast flag amendment,' committee spokeswoman Jenny Manley said Tuesday."

This is going to be an even tougher sell in the House. Copyright laws go through the Judiciary Committe and through its doors is where the copyright lobbyists have worn the most shoe leather. It's members are well-greased by Hollywood.

The FCC falls under the domain of the Commerce Committe. Not only isn't it well-greased, its chairman is a Boucherite who has butted heads with Hollywood in the past.

The horse-trading will be interesting. Maybe we'll see a loosening of the DMCA in return for the broadcast flag.
