Sorry but the numbers simply don't agree with you.
I've yet to see any economisits that agrees that NAFTA held any benefit to the US. (Other than allowing gross profits of international corps to grow.)

Consider if you will that corporations have been able (campaign contributions) to keep minimum wage below the poverty level income. $5.15 an hour comes out to $10,000 a year and if you wrok two full time jobs your *almost* at the federal poverty level.

Of course the federal government is now trying to make it easier for companies to hire illegal aliens as many companies refuse to even pay minimum wages.

As to WalMart being "punished", not a chance man, they make campaign contributions. The total "punishment" was a small tarriff placed on some television parts and a slap on the wrist for being caught red handed. In other words, nothing changed.

Look, anyway you cut it, the US trade deficit is growing and gets larger everyday. The net effect of that is a loss in the standard of living in the US, there simply is no way around it.

In all likelyhood your parents were able to buy a home, raise thier family, and live a "middle income" life style all on one salary. Today that simply isn't possible. Maybe in 20 years we will do as other countries and have out kids working full time along side mom and dad by age 12 just to have a home to live in...
