I already know the end, do you?
It goes something like this. Microsoft can't stand Apple being successful and they want a piece of the action, so they release their own version of the service. But that isn't enough for Microsoft, they will then bundle the software with their next service pack and OS release. Ultimately, much like IE, Windows Media Player, and MSN Messenger, people will run with the Microsoft service because they are too lazy to install anything else. Most of this is because he who controls the desktop can direct the middle-ware applications.
