It won't work
Not sure where any of you have been (obviously not on porn sites), but there are LOTS of free porn sites available for just about any fetish you desire. LOTS, LOTS, LOTS!!!

The whole thing won't work...here's why:

1. Who is going to block the .xxx sites? Not your ISP. They can't block anything that is not illegal, and last time I checked, porn is legal if you are of legal age, and the ISP doesn't know who is sitting at the computer.

2. If your ISP won't block it, who will? Most home users are not saavy enough to properly install, configure and monitor any software or hardware that will block it, so they won't bother.

3. Kids are smart. Smarter than you think. They WILL find a way around it. If that means hacking the software/hardware that is blocking them from seeing porn, they will do it. Kids don't give up easily.

4. Kids will find other avenues for the porn they crave. Older friends that can rent DVD's from the adult section behind the red door at the local video store. Magazines, other friends who's parents aren't blocking the .xxx...there are countless ways to get around it. IT NEEDS REPEATING....Kids don't give up easily!!!!

5. Technology is great, but it can be conquered. For just about every bit of security/protection you slap on technology, if it is important to someone to bypass it...they will. And they'll get their friends to help. Yes, that means hackers.

It may appear that I am in favor of porn and against the .xxx. Not really. The .xxx won't work in the long term, so go ahead, won't bother me.

As for porn...it can ruin your life if you let it get out of control. It can adversely affect your outlook on life, how you treat your loved one (or the opposite sex as a whole), how you treat your kids, other kids, etc, etc. Trust me, porn can definitely have negative consequences in your life.

HOWEVER, porn is just an avenue for living out fantasies that most of us will NEVER experience. This doesn't differ much from the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Victoria's Secret, or even Playboy (which is supposed to be "tasteful adult entertainment"). They all lead down the same path...fantasy. Find me a man that cuts out all the "provocative" pictures of the above mentioned publications. He's either gay or blind, I guarantee it.
