UN Control
For me it is hard to envisage the scope of the ramifications of UN control over the internet. One of the outcomes that could be predicted (perhaps) is that the influence of any single state would be greatly diluted. The downside of this is that decision taking could be very slow and tortuous.
Given the choice I think I would prefer the possibility that decisions taken would ultimately be for the benefit of the global community. It would not be acceptable to have decisions taken that are perceived to benefit corporate or national interests.
Like it or not, the worldis full of people who have little faith in the altruism of US corporations.
