UN Competence

Talk to the many people of the world whi have reason to bless the (often belated and underfunded) presence of the UN in their strife torn lands before you write them off.
I suggest that if the US governments of the last few decades had beem less preoccupied with their own imperial aspirations then perhaps the UN could have had better success in the role for which it was instigated.
If I start a club and then discover the members want to grow the club into areas which I consider my own personal domain of influence then perhaps I would pick up my ball and go home - at least that would be almost honorable. On the other hand, I could stick around and spoil the game for everyone else and ***** about it from the sidelines.
