Sorry to burst your fantasy Anty, but tabs ain't EVER going away!

I don't know what your aversion to tabs is. You don't find it more convenient to middle or ctrl-click a link and have it load in the background while you continue to enjoy the site you're currently on? You can't imagine how much more efficient this makes research. I'll middle click 3, 4, or 5 links and view them later. This way I don't have to give myself a mental note to go back over the page later and remind myself what I also wanted to look at.
And here's another great example: when the ZDNet threads end and you have to reply to a post much further above to keep going on the same thread, I create a duplicate page (down-up-down mouse gesture). With the duplicate I can refer to the post I'm replying to, and with the original tab I creep back up to the post I need to reply to to keep going on the same thread. I'd LOVE for you to tell me that this would be easier by using multiple windows..
