Unfortunately...
As one who has been using Macs for a little more than two
years, I understand and sympathize with your thinking.

Unfortunately, it's not very feasible. One of the reasons for the
superiority and stability of OS X is that it is developed and
maintained by the same company that develops and maintains
the computers on which it runs. It's rather like automobile
manufacturers, who either build all the parts for their vehicles or
have a strong hand in their design or integration into the final
product.

If Apple chose to port OSX to the Intel world, they would face the
very formidable problem of incredible numbers of variations in
the hardware available for the Intel platform. Now that I own a
Mac, and having owned about a dozen "PC's," I understand their
unwillingness to become tied down by that horribly tangled and
time-consuming mess.
