Not too hard to understand
Apple needed a browser, they selected an open source one. That's it.

The open source agreement is that if you modify the code and distribute it, you must publish the modified code. Apple does that, so agreement honoured. There is no committment that Apple will seek agreement from anyone before publishing changes, nor that they will implement changes made by other KHTML coders - and the reverse is true too.

"Apple needed a browser so it lied when it joined with KHTML"

Care to substantiate that? Where's your proof? What did Apple promise and, if you find a promise, what parts haven't they kept? Or do you think you can utter libellous untruths in a public forum with impunity?
