Their updates have hurt them in my eyes
The fact that they do release updates and there have been a few in and of itself is not a problem. All software packages release patches. But the fact that they have not been nearly as smooth as they should be has been.

The updates in the Linux side have been business as usual. But the fact is that most desktop users use Windows, and updating Firefox on Windows can be really frustrating. It's gotten better, I'll give them that, especially now that they got some semblance of an autoupdate working, but it's still needs a lot of refining. But you still get problems with cranky extensions now and then. And there are still a lot of themes out there, ones hosted by Mozilla's site in fact, which do not have icons for the update alert button that shows up in the upper right hand corner, so you wind up with a blank space where a button should be, even though when you click that blank space it acts as if you hit the button.

Firefox needs to first clean up their update process to cater to Windows users better, and second get their extension programmers in line by making sure their extensions are ready for newer releases (perhaps this can be done by removing the extensions from their site completely if the extensions do not work with the newest version).

Again, the fact that they've had a few updates in and of itself isn't a big deal, but because they've been so frequent combined with the fact that it's a pain to update compounds the problem.
