Basically you are right except that Google doesn't have to learn your surfing habits. The paradigm is independent of their knowledge of what you do. You cache information does not have to be indexed or anything of the kind for ad serving. Ad serving is real-time based on the page you visit, not your surfing habits.

But this is no different than all those other places that advertise, "Surf the web up to five times faster with new accelerated Internet!" It is all the same thing. They probably use Google to do it wink. The difference is that with Google, you can control the settings and it is only usefull on broadband whereas other ISP's are talking dialup surfing.

In both cases, surfing habits must be stored for the cacheing web proxy to work (duh!).
