Read the Constitution

---No, the purpose of IP is to assure that the creator of IP
receives the reward expected. That's the basic principle of a
capitalist society. IP is capital.---

I don't think so, at least not according to the US Constitution,
which reads (regarding copyright):

To Promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing,
for limited Times, to Authors and Inventors, the exclusive Right
to their respective Writings and Discoveries.

The key being promoting progress, which is good for society. I
think this is the goal, rather than just generating "people
seeking rewards".

My main objection is that it's too broad, and poorly written and
has had (and will continue to have) many unintended
consequences.
