DMCA, model for the world.
The part of this campaign that seems foolish is the idea that the DMCA and related laws have created a model for how to protect IP. The flaws, the lack of consideration for the consumer, the excessive penalties all should make the US government apologetic instead.
If the US is going to propose legal models to other countries, the Federal government should spend the time necessary to produce better laws.

As it is, any country that follows the DMCA model undercompulsion is probably going to have to endure a series of court cases showing that the excesses of the law violate individual rights guaranteed in those countries.
When/if the US insists on those court decisions being overruled, the US representatives will have to hear about the flaws.

Eventually, the solution will be a negotiated international rule that is more beyond the power of the RIAA/MPAA. And the world will look at the way the US Congress was owned on these issues, and consider it an important model. To reject.
