The president leads the world's biggest market...
... and being even inconvenienced in reaching the US market can be destructive. Other countries also recognize that what the US has to sell in the world is largely IP, and that no President can allow without comment an attack on exports.

Bothers me that if you can handle it or use it, it's probably not made primarily in the US, but economies do respond to circumstrances.
