- I have 2GB Ram and rarely get disk activity on Star Wars Galaxies

RAM helps a lot. Flash Ram is cheaper and nonvolitile, but slower, but the newer stuff competes with IDE drives for performance.
Hybrid drives help a lot with business people and to a lesser extent, gamers.
