That's what they said about transistors...
If I understand your post correctly, it's probably a good thing you weren't at Kitty Hawk with the Wright brothers ("What's the point of inventing a plane if you can only fly a few hundred feet?")

The first production run for discrete transistors had a horrible yield, but the process has obviously improved, hasn't it?
