The MESH

"Mesh networks by thier very design are much slower than a backhaul fed AP/SM network."

THis is where the meshing algorithm RESEARCH comes in. I'm not sure if the "slowness thing" is inherent in meshing, or the current "best" meshing practice.

Nightmare or Challenge? Depends on the attitude of the people doing the work.

"Cost? $330,000+ / month. That is for a private network with a coverage area of over 2500 Sq. Miles.

Who is going to foot the bill for what you are proposing?"

Depends on where the costs are - Hardware, software, support, overhead, etc. If I have my own, personal WiMAX router - with the meshing software installed, then what are my costs?

"Remember, WiMax is only 50Mb/s on very close links, at 30KM the speeds are around 5-10Mb/s (maybe slower)."

I've heard NOTHING about the REAL numbers. All the numbers quoted are estimates. As for being slower at longer ranges - WHY? If the signal is digital, then you either connect - or not, there is NO degradation.
