The telcos are pushing WiMAX (4G) which is being developed in Asia (currently). This means IP over everything, VOIP phones (doesn't your mobile phone use Wi-Fi alrady?), address resolution issues (routers, switches, ATM, etc.) and ultimately (since WiMAX is wireless telecommunications) the telcos become more powerful! But you can always dream!
